13 Truth in My Eyes (1 Thessalonians 5:11, James 1:19)
This is a song based on how somebody feels inside, but is unable to speak the truth they hope is seen in their eyes. Basically there is a break down in communication where a person feels they can't speak, while people close to them are not asking what's going on. This could be as simple as seeing a friend who seems upset/depressed and really making sure they are OK. People can be too polite when it comes to their own problems not wanting to burden others when they need help. This song is trying to be an encouragement to both parties to seek one and other.
lyrics
Can’t you see the truth in my eyes, all those times I've lied to you?
Yet you never tend to ask, questions of friendly sincerity.
Isn’t there something I should want to say? But you wouldn’t care, anyway.
Will you ever know how I feel? That’s if I told you anyway.
Will you ever know how I feel? I'm just as much to blame.
Here I go talking to the air, ‘cause I know you’re not listening.
How is it we go along, surrounded, yet feeling all alone?
Isn’t there something I should want to say? But you wouldn’t care, anyway.
Will you ever know how I feel? That’s if I told you anyway.
Will you ever know how I feel? I'm just as much to blame.
All these little things, they gather inside,
I don’t know where to go, or where to hide.
Could you be someone to listen and share,
of all the heavy things we decide to bare?
Will you ever know how I feel? That’s if I told you anyway.
Will you ever know how I feel? I'm just as much to blame.
